Marble, with it's dramatic veining and rich colors, is both spectacular and luxurious.  A naturally crystallized limestone, marble can be polished to a mirror finish, however this is recommended only for lightly used rooms, such as a powder room or guest bath.  A honed finish is more practical for a kitchen or bath, since common acidic liquids will  etch the marble, resulting in dull spots in a polished finish.  Contrary to popular belief, sealing the marble will not prevent etching.

Because of it's unparalleled smoothness, marble counters are a favorite among bakers. Marble is very stain resistant but will absorb over time and develop a lovely patina.  Marble adds immeasurable value and beauty to your home.
